Football Notes: Italy's Serie B Suspended Until Oct. 9

Italy's Serie B was suspended by the regional administrative court (TAR) of Lazio, the division's president, Franco Frattini, said. The season "started in turmoil" with three teams -- Avellino, Cesena and Bari -- going bankrupt and forced to start again from Serie D. Rather than "replace them," the competition began with "just 19 rather than the expected 22." Frattini revealed there be will be no football played until Oct. 9 (ESPN.com, 9/18).

Sierra Leone's Anti-Corruption Commission "raided the offices" of the country's FA (SLFA). The move comes seven days after the ACC "sent a letter for SLFA President Isha Johansen to step down." The ACC said that under Sierra Leone law, Johansen and her secretary general, Chris Kamara, "must vacate their posts while they are being investigated." Both Johansen and Kamara "denied any wrongdoing" (BBC, 9/18).
