Media Notes: Discovery Wins IBC Award For Olympics Coverage

Discovery and Eurosport were recognized for coverage of the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Games, receiving the Int'l Broadcasting Convention Innovation Award for Content Creation. The Eurosport cube was acknowledged as one of the key innovations of the Games in February, with IOC President Thomas Bach saying that it "brings the challenges that all athletes face closer to people who are watching" (Discovery). 

The Pakistan Super League is "set to grow bigger" as the league approaches the sale of its next rights cycle. The PSL franchise representatives and PCB officials met at the National Cricket Academy on Sunday to "review independent valuations of various commercial rights." Representatives of Lagardère Sports presented the valuations (DAWN, 9/17).

Chinese pay-TV operator StarTimes acquired the rights to Senegal Ligue 1 for 10 seasons, for a reported $11M. StarTimes will broadcast the competition starting Oct. 4 (SPORTS SENEGAL, 9/14).
