Event Notes: General Public Unable To Buy Tickets For AFL Preliminary Final

Fans of Australian Football League sides Richmond and Collingwood "expressed anger at Ticketek after being left without tickets" for Friday's preliminary final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The clubs' members bought the 40,000 tickets made available on Sunday in "just over one hour," meaning the sale of tickets to the general public scheduled for 2pm on Monday did not happen. AFL spokesperson Patrick Keane said that "the history between Collingwood and Richmond played a part in the frenzy for tickets" (London GUARDIAN, 9/17).

UFC Fight Night 136 in Moscow "drew an announced attendance of 22,603 fans" for a live gate of $1.84M, the "fifth-largest crowd in the promotion's history and the largest MMA event ever in Russia." Saturday's card marked UFC's "debut in Russia" (MMA JUNKIE, 9/15).
