EPL side Everton is at the center of a second "tapping-up" investigation over its attempts to recruit a young player from Cardiff City, according to Paul Joyce of the LONDON TIMES. An anonymous tip to the Premier League resulted in "an inquiry into the conduct of the Goodison Park club" and its contact with the schoolboy. It comes with Everton already facing an independent inquiry over its recruitment of Manager Marco Silva that "could result in the club facing a substantial fine or even a points deduction." The second case relates to an approach in '16 when Cardiff was in the League Championship and investigations are "at an early stage." The player is now at ManU. An Everton spokesperson said, "Everton has been notified of an allegation relating to an approach by the club to an academy-aged player. On being made aware of this, we immediately launched an internal investigation and have been cooperating fully with all of the relevant authorities." It "remains to be seen whether anything will be proven against Everton," which could result in a possible ban from signing English-based players for its academy (LONDON TIMES, 9/15).
