Dyce Boys Club Lands Windfall From Armstrong's Move To Celtic

Stuart Armstrong's £7M ($9.2M) transfer to Premier League side Southampton from Scottish Premiership side Celtic led to a "six-figure windfall" that Dyce Boys Club said will "sustain the club for years," according to the BBC. Dyce Boys' share of this summer's fee, the result of FIFA's rules about developing players, left the club "in a state of shock." Inverness-born Armstrong moved from Dyce Boys to Scottish Championship side Inverness Caledonian Thistle before signing professional terms with Scottish Championship rival Dundee United, "then switching to Celtic." Armstrong: "I'm really proud that the move to Southampton has triggered a payment to the club as it was a great place for me to learn and enjoy my football while I was growing up." Dyce Boys Club Treasurer Len Nicol added, "We are in a state of shock. We never dreamt how much it would be. We heard news of the transfer just before it was announced and we knew that there would be a payment, but I nearly dropped the phone when I heard how much it was" (BBC, 9/13).
