WNBL Returns To Free-TV This Season With SBS

The Women's National Basketball League will return to free-to-air TV this season, "with SBS to simulcast at least nine regular-season games live," according to Roy Ward of THE AGE. Fox Sports will continue as the league’s main broadcaster, showing one game a week and all finals live along with the Opals games from the FIBA Women’s World Cup in Spain starting on Sept. 22. SBS will simulcast nine Saturday 3pm games live and also livestream them via SBS On Demand and the SBS Sport website. WNBL Head Sally Phillips said that the addition of SBS was a "win for the league," which is entering its 38th season. She said, "With Fox Sports and SBS joining forces, it will ensure that the league will receive more exposure than ever before." The WNBL season tips off on Oct. 12 (THE AGE, 9/11).
