LLDC Responds To West Ham's 'Damaging' Accusation

The London Legacy Development Corp. responded to Premier League side West Ham's claims it is "misleading taxpayers over an argument involving unpaid bills at the London Stadium," according to Sam Inkersole of FOOTBALL.LONDON. The LLDC insisted West Ham has "yet to pay some outstanding debts" owed to it, "believed to be involving maintenance of the giant screens around the arena, but that is something the club has strenuously denied." Tensions between the LLDC and West Ham "are already approaching breaking point over a number of disagreements." LLDC Chair Peter Hendy wrote to the London Assembly in the wake of West Ham's statement, which he said "essentially accused LLDC of lying." Hendy's letter said, "This is an extremely serious and damaging statement to make against public officials appearing before elected Assembly Members and will be asking West Ham to retract the claim." He also revealed in the letter that the LLDC was close to securing naming rights partners with West Ham with two companies, "both of which fell through." One of them is believed to be telecom Vodafone (FOOTBALL.LONDON, 9/10).
