Franchise Notes: NRL To Investigate Broncos Over Gee Invite

The National Rugby League integrity unit will launch an investigation into the Brisbane Broncos after "disgraced" former official Andrew Gee was invited on Sunday into Brisbane's coaching box by Manager Wayne Bennett. In a "dramatic postscript" to Brisbane’s season-ending 48-18 finals loss to the Dragons, the NRL will "demand answers from Broncos hierarchy for allowing Gee into an NRL venue after a four-year exile from the game." Gee quit the Broncos in "mysterious circumstances" in May '14 -- just hours before the NRL "launched a probe into allegations Brisbane cheated the salary cap" by A$450,000 over three years (Brisbane COURIER-MAIL, 9/9).

Bundesliga side Bayern Munich reached an agreement with Taiyuan, the capital city of Shanxi Province, to set up a football school in the city. It will be the third football school that Bayern has established in China, after the Qingdao and Shenzhen football schools (YUTANG SPORTS, 9/7).
