Tottenham Granted Permission To Play EFL Match At Milton Keynes

Tottenham will play its EFL Cup game against Watford at Stadium MK.GETTY IMAGES

Tottenham was "given the green light" to play its English Football League Cup game against Watford in Milton Keynes, according to Matt Hughes of the LONDON TIMES. With its new stadium "not ready and Wembley unavailable," Spurs asked to play the third-round match at Stadium MK, the home of League Two side MK Dons. The matter was discussed at an EFL board meeting last week, where it was decided that the game, scheduled for Sept. 26, could be moved to Milton Keynes, despite Watford asking it to be moved to Vicarage Road. It is the latest issue caused by the delays to the completion of Tottenham’s new stadium, "which have forced extra games to be moved to Wembley" (LONDON TIMES, 9/6).
