Media Notes: Mediapro Awarded CONMEBOL Broadcast Contract

Spanish broadcaster Mediapro was awarded a contract by CONMEBOL to produce and distribute the int'l signal of the Copa Libertadores, Copa Sudamericana and Recopa competitions over the next four years. Mediapro will set up a hub based in Buenos Aires to manage the integration, production and distribution of 263 matches held in 10 countries (TELECOMPAPER, 9/5).

Facebook and WWE announced in-ring series "Mixed Match Challenge" will return for season 2, streaming live exclusively on Facebook Watch. The series will be available in the U.S. and, for the first time, Australia, Brazil, France, Germany, Indonesia, Mexico, the Philippines, Spain, Thailand and Vietnam (WWE). 

With the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2018 set to tip off on Sept. 22, FIBA released the competition's official app. The free app is available in English, Spanish and French for Android and iOS devices (FIBA). 

Streaming platform startup Caffeine completed a funding round that includes a $100M investment from 21st Century Fox. Fox Exec Chair Lachlan Murdoch will join Caffeine's board. The investment will be used, in part, for a joint venture between Fox Sports and Caffeine to develop a programming studio called Caffeine Studios (THE ESPORTS OBSERVER, 9/5).
