The Nigeria Football Federation banned coach SALISU YUSUF for a year and fined him $5,000. The sanctions were imposed on Yusuf, 56, "following an NFF investigation into bribery allegations." Yusuf denied any wrongdoing (BBC, 9/5). ... FIFA extended its ban from all football activities on former Ghana FA President KWESI NYANTAKYI by an additional 45 days. He was initially suspended on June 8 for 90 days. FIFA's independent ethics committee is carrying out a formal investigation into Nyantakyi after he was filmed apparently accepting a "cash gift" (BBC, 9/5). ... The FA leadership will have an "unlikely say" in the appointments of the new CEO and chair of the Premier League to succeed RICHARD SCUDAMORE. Premier League statutes decree that the FA "must approve appointees to the two top jobs" at the EPL -- "even though the competition's FA prefix was dropped a decade ago." It will be up to FA CEO MARTIN GLENN and Chair GREG CLARKE, rather than the full FA board, to rule on the choices of an EPL selection panel (London DAILY MAIL, 9/4). ... Rolling Stones frontman MICK JAGGER promised to give £20,000 ($25,820) to charity for every century and five-wicket haul from an England or India player in the final test of the series. Jagger also pledged to donate £10,000 ($12,910) each time a player from either side "notches a half-century or takes three wickets" (DAILY MAIL, 9/5).
