The profits and revenues of one of Britain's first listed gaming companies that is backed by China's Tencent slipped "as it ramped up costs in development and marketing ahead of the release of its latest game," according to Matthew Field of the London TELEGRAPH. Frontier Developments reported its revenues dipped to £34.2M ($44.1M) from £37.4M the previous year, while profits fell by £5M ($6.5M) to £2.8M ($3.6M). The Cambridge-based game developer was "one of the first British games studios to go public" and was followed this year by listings of Codemasters and Team17. The studio said that the recent launch of Jurassic World Evolution, a new game title "tied in to the popular film franchise," will help "boost its revenue in the next financial year" (TELEGRAPH, 9/5).

TRAVEL PLANS: THE ESPORTS OBSERVER's Sara Elsam reported the German government announced a change of policy for foreign esports athletes competing in the region. Enacted in response to a written request from the Free Democratic Party in the German Bundestag, the new regulation "will enable foreign esports athletes to enter tournaments and events in Germany and stay for up to 90 days a year" (TEO, 9/5).

MALAYSIAN MAJOR: TEO's Trent Murray reported the first Dota 2 Major of the next Dota Pro Circuit season will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The tournament will be run by PGL. Teams competing in the DPC earn points "which enable them to qualify" for the next edition of The Int'l, Dota 2's largest global championship (TEO, 9/5).

ON THE GRID: Murray also reported esports broadcaster FACEIT signed a deal with data platform GRID "to provide data and statistics for its upcoming Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament," the FACEIT London Major. GRID will serve as the event's official data partner (TEO, 9/5).
