Tokyo 2020 Bolsters Cyber Security To Prevent Hacking

Tokyo 2020 Technology Dir Yuko Takeuchi insisted that "measures are being taken to prevent a repeat of the cyber-attacks" that hit the opening ceremony of the PyeongChang Games, according to Daniel Etchells of INSIDE THE GAMES. Takeuchi claimed that during the upcoming Tokyo 2020 test events, organizers have to be "very familiar with all aspects involved in operations to make sure it does not happen again." Takeuchi added that valuable experience has been gained from when hackers targeted Tokyo 2020's website, "causing it to crash for several hours" in Nov. '15. The situation was described by Tokyo 2020 CEO Toshiro Muto as an "extremely serious issue." Drills aimed at countering hackers are usually held six times a year but have been increased to 10 (INSIDE THE GAMES, 9/4).
