Event Notes: Zurich Cancels '19 Formula E Race

Zürich, Switzerland, canceled next year's Formula E race, with Bern "in line to step in." A statement on the Zürich government website explained that an "additional major event would be too great a burden for the population," with the Zuri-Fascht Festival using many of the same streets and areas as the Zurich Street Circuit in the city’s Enge district. FE is understood to be "looking for an alternative location in Switzerland" (MOTORSPORT, 9/4).

Tonga's match against the Kangaroos was confirmed, with a "showdown" against the Kiwis next year also expected to be announced. The National Rugby League confirmed the Australia match on Oct. 20 at Mt. Smart Stadium in Auckland (STUFF, 9/4).
