Rovio Unveils Characters Based On Everton Players In Angry Birds

The first images were released of "three personalized characters based on" Premier League side Everton players in Rovio's Angry Birds "Evolution" game, according to Adam Jones of the LIVERPOOL ECHO. Everton's Gylfi Sigurdsson, Theo Walcott and Cenk Tosun will all "be available as playable characters in the game," and will become limited-edition, "extra-rare five-star birds" which can be used until Monday. Angry Birds has been the club's shirt sleeve sponsor since Sept. '17, and this is the "latest in a series of activities" Rovio's game and Everton have undertaken in the past few months. Everton's "innovative partnership" with Rovio uses Angry Birds' int'l appeal to grow the club's "influence and international appeal." The introduction of the Everton characters is a "first for the company," and each of the players' unique birds has its own designs and "evolutions," (LIVERPOOL ECHO, 8/22).

CHOOSE WISELY: The London DAILY MAIL reported each of the three new player-inspired characters have been designed to have three unique "evolutions" based on their personalities and playing styles. Walcott's character "takes the form of a distinctive yellow bird -- yellow characters being the fastest in Angry Birds Evolution." Tosun's character will "reflect his cultural roots and clinical finishing skills," while Sigurdsson's will "draw upon his physical strength" and recognize his Icelandic heritage (DAILY MAIL, 8/22).
