Bristol Rovers Owner Addresses Club's Stadium Plans

Bristol Rovers are considering a move away from Memorial Stadium.GETTY IMAGES

Confusion reigns over the future of League One side Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Stadium and "the prospect of building a new stadium away from the Mem," according to Aidan McCartney of the BRISTOL POST. Following the collapse of the club's deal to build a new ground in partnership with the University of the West of England last August, Bristol Rovers said they would work "stand-by-stand" to improve the current stadium. However, it "now looks like" the club is preparing to move away from its current home as part of a "final solution." Bristol Rovers President Wael Al Qadi answered questions about the stadium on Saturday. He was "unable to give full details about the club's plans" but revealed it is considering "several viable options." Al Qadi said, "We are looking into all viable options and I really can't divulge into these details or what is going on. This is because of legal issues and legal disclosures" (BRISTOL POST, 8/11).
