IOC Stresses Gender Equality In Composition Of '18 Commissions

The IOC announced the composition of the IOC commissions for '18, with continued progress toward gender equality. Women will now occupy 30 more commission positions than last year. In total, 42.7% of the positions across the 26 IOC commissions will be held by women -- a historic high. This represents an increase of 16.8% in female participation compared to '17 and an improvement of 98% since '13 (IOC). AROUND THE RINGS' Ed Hula reported making his debut on the Communications Commission is Martin Sorrell. The founder and former CEO of WPP is "now creating a new media company in London." Sorrell has "regularly advised the IOC on communications issues and has been a speaker at IOC meetings" (AROUND THE RINGS, 8/8).
