Marketplace Roundup: Burnley Forced To Remove Laba360 Logo

Premier League side Burnley was forced to tweak its kit for Thursday's Europa League trip to Süper Lig club Istanbul Basaksehir. Burnley elected to wear its white third kit, but it had to remove the logo of its shirt sponsor, betting platform Laba360, as the Turkish FA does "not allow gambling or alcohol-related branding" (London DAILY MAIL, 8/9).

EPL side Cardiff City named 1xBet its global betting partner for the '18-19 and '19-20 seasons. 1xBet "will have extensive use of on and offline assets" and will launch activation programs alongside the club "in each of its territories" (SBC NEWS, 8/8).

Indian cricketer Virat Kohli partnered with San Francisco-based community interest app MrOwl. Kohli will "share exclusive personal content on the app." He will also encourage fans to create content "branches" about their interests, "with memorabilia and gift cards as the prizes" (THE DRUM, 8/9).

Indian online poker and rummy operator Adda52.com signed West Indian cricketer Chris Gayle as an official brand ambassador. Gayle captained the West Indies' test side from '07-10 (GAMING INTELLIGENCE, 8/9).

The Japan Esports Union (JESU) named Dentsu its dedicated marketing agency to "fuel the community's growing popularity." Dentsu will "formulate a strategic marketing plan which will look to propel further growth" and drive JESU sponsorship sales (THE DRUM, 8/9).

Paris St. Germain Esports signed a one-year partnership with Monster Energy, which is "mainly aimed at the Asian market." Earlier this year, PSG signed a partnership with Chinese esports organization LGD, which "subsequently rebranded its Dota 2 squad to PSG.LGD." Monster Energy "specifically has now become the first partner of the PSG.LGD Gaming Dota 2 esports team in Asia" (THE ESPORTS OBSERVER, 8/9).

The Federation of Uganda FAs announced pay-TV company StarTimes as the official sponsor of the Uganda Premier League. The contract, "which will last for the next decade," is worth $7.24M and will also cover the second division -- the FUFA Big League (FUTAA, 8/9).
