Indian Premier League's Valuation Jumps 19% To $6.3B

The Indian Premier League's brand value "continues to scale new highs" as more viewers and advertisers "continue to join the bandwagon," according to Gaurav Laghate of the ECONOMIC TIMES. After the 11th season, the IPL's value has experienced a 19% "jump" from last year to $6.3B, according to a brand valuation report from Duff & Phelps. The corporate finance advisers said that the '18 edition of the IPL set a "relatively different tone" compared to its previous editions as the new broadcasting partner, Star India, committed Rs 16,347.5 crore ($2.45B) for the rights over the next five years. This year, two franchises joined the $100M club. The Mumbai Indians were valued at $113M and the Kolkata Knight Riders were valued at $104M. The Chennai Super Kings were valued at $98M (ECONOMIC TIMES, 8/8).
