Trophée Des Champions Draws 41,000 In Shenzhen

The French Professional Football League (LFP) announced 41,000 spectators filled the Shenzhen Universiade Sports Centre to watch the Trophée des Champions last weekend, according to L'ÉQUIPE. The LFP also announced the match between Paris St. Germain and Monaco, which PSG won 4-0, drew 3 million viewers in China. Of those viewers, 1.5 million watched on free-TV channel CCTV and another 1.5 million tuned in through PPTV and Tencent digital platforms. The LFP has decided to play the game outside of France from '18-23 to grow Ligue 1 internationally. China will host at least three editions of the event over the next six years. LFP General Dir Didier Quillot said, "China is a key territory for our international development" (L'ÉQUIPE, 8/8).
