Brands Celebrate France's Victory With Congratulatory Ads

To celebrate France's World Cup victory, Nike unveiled a video featuring the French jersey with its second world champion star, according to Alexandre Bailleul of SPORTBUZZ BUSINESS. The jersey is available on Nike's official website. Nike also launched an ad with French forward Kylian Mbappé wearing the jersey. The two ads were broadcast immediately following France's 4-2 win over Croatia (SPORTBUZZ BUSINESS, 7/15).

STAR SUPPORT: Bailleul also reported Jay-Z and Beyoncé performed at the Stade de France in Paris on Sunday following the World Cup final. Concert organizers allowed fans to enter the stadium early to watch the match on the 50m by 13m screen at the venue. Jay-Z and Beyoncé wore Nike's new France jersey featuring two stars. It was "enormous publicity" for Nike, the official provider of the French Football Federation, considering the rapper was announced as "being involved with Puma" (SPORTBUZZ BUSINESS, 7/16).

METRO STOPS: 20 MINUTES reported French celebrations were felt throughout the country, and even Parisian public transportation operator RATP "got in on it." To celebrate the victory, RATP "renamed six Paris metro stations." Avron became "Nous Avron Gagné" (We won); Charles de Gaulle-Étoile became "On a 2 Étoiles" (We have two stars); Victor Hugo became "Victor Hugo Lloris" (to honor French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris); Bercy chagned to "Bercy les Bleus" (a play on Merci to mean thank you Les Bleus); Notre-Dame des Champs was renamed "Notre Didier Deschamps" (to honor the French manager); and Champs Elysées-Clémenceau became "Deschamps Elysées-Clémenceau" (20 MINUTES, 7/16).

CHAMPION RECEPTION: Bailleul also reported following France's victory, "a number of brands" congratulated the team. Puma, which sponsors French players Antoine Greizmann, Olivier Giroud and Adil Rami, used an animated video to congratulate the trio. Louis Vuitton released a print ad featuring the World Cup trophy in one of its luxury luggage cases with the words "La Victoire voyage en Louis Vuitton" (The victory travels with Louis Vuitton). FFF sponsor Orange tweeted congratulations to the team and thanked the supporters for following along. Coca-Cola's print ad congratulated the team, saying, "Merci de nous rassembler" (Thanks for bringing us together) (SPORTBUZZ BUSINESS, 7/16).
