Game development studio Foundry IV "detailed the expansion" of its partnership with MGM Resorts Int'l, according to Ferguson Mitchell of THE ESPORTS OBSERVER. Included in the studio’s future plans are a tournament series, a new battle royale-style game, a gaming platform aimed at casinos and a "New Sports Federation." "New sports" is a Foundry IV-created term "intended to expand esports." The exact definition provided by the studio is "an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others, using digital technologies such as the Internet, competitive game titles, and VR/AR for entertainment." Foundry IV’s core plan is to create a "circular network" around these "new sports." It starts with the casino-themed gaming platform and games Foundry IV will build, "highlighted by a battle royale title built using the Unreal Engine." To accomplish its goals, the studio is developing "two separate competitive systems" for its games, one for casinos and the other for "a more traditional competitive approach focused heavily on brand integrations and amateur play" (THE ESPORTS OBSERVER, 7/10).
