Marketplace Roundup: River Plate Could Open Season Without Sponsor

Argentine Superliga side River Plate is playing its preseason games without a front-of-shirt sponsor, "and the club may lack such a sponsor when the season begins on July 22." The club has not played an official match without a shirt sponsor since '10. River Plate's partnership with previous sponsor BBVA expired on June 30 (CLARÍN, 7/8).

Chelsea announced Vitality as its official health insurance partner. The deal will provide Vitality members and Chelsea fans access to a number of benefits and offers including official merchandise, match tickets and matchday packages. The brand will be represented around Stamford Bridge and on the club's social media platforms (Chelsea).

The Rugby Football Union and retailer Fanatics opened Twickenham's new stadium store as part of an eight-year project to develop the RFU's global retail and e-commerce program. The new England Rugby store will be a pillar in the RFU's matchday and non-matchday fan program following investment in the World Rugby Museum and Stadium Tour operations (Fanatics).

Spanish oil company Repsol will continue as title sponsor for Honda's factory MotoGP team through the '20 season. Honda's works 500cc/MotoGP bikes "have carried the iconic orange Repsol livery" since the '95 season, making it "one of the most long-lasting current sponsorship arrangements in motorsport" (MOTORSPORT, 7/9).

Serie A side Inter Milan announced Roborock as the club's official Chinese regional partner. The parties also launched an "Inter Milan-customized robotic vacuum cleaner" as part of the agreement (YUTANG SPORTS, 7/9).

Serie A side Frosinone reached a three-year deal with Zeus Sport to become its technical sponsor. The club has been partnered with the retailer for 12 years (Frosinone).

The IPC announced Asics as an official supplier through '20. Asics will supply official sportswear and shoes for the IPC and the Independent Paralympic Athletes Teams at official events (IPC).

Bundesliga side Augsburg extended its four-year partnership with Nike by a further three years until June 30, 2021. Nike will supply matchday kits, training kits and casualwear for the first team as well as all of the club's youth teams (Augsburg).
