League Championship side Bolton Wanderers Chair Ken Anderson said that all but one of the club's players have been paid their salaries -- but that he will not be "blackmailed" over bonuses. The club's friendly at St. Mirren on Saturday was called off, with players claiming "they have gone on strike over unpaid wages and bonuses." Anderson said that "bonuses and loyalty fees" were set to go out on Friday. However, after an "ultimatum" by the squad to pay them, he said that he would not "be threatened or blackmailed" (BBC, 7/7).
League Championship sides Birmingham City and Middlesbrough settled their High Court dispute over Garry Monk's coaching staff at Birmingham. Middlesbrough sacked Monk in Dec. '17 and Birmingham City appointed him, along with four coaches, in March. Birmingham began legal action, "arguing conditions in the backroom team's contracts meant they were unable to work together" until Dec. 28. The four coaches filed a counterclaim, but a joint statement said that the parties agreed to settlement terms (BBC, 7/6).
