Bournemouth Will Pay £4.75M To EFL For FFP Breach

EPL side Bournemouth will pay £4.75M ($6.28M) to the English Football League for a breach of the financial fair play rules, according to Aditi Prakash of REUTERS. Bournemouth was deemed to have "breached the FFP rules" in the '14-15 season, when it won the League Championship and earned promotion to the Premier League, recording a £38.33M ($50.64M) loss in the process. The EFL said in a statement, "In reaching a settlement, the EFL acknowledges that the Club did not make any deliberate attempt to infringe the Rules or to deceive." The EFL fined Bournemouth in '16 for breaching its financial regulations. The case was put on hold as League Championship side Queens Park Rangers challenged the EFL's FFP rules "before an arbitral panel," claiming that they were "were unlawful under competition law" (REUTERS, 7/5).
