Montpellier Mayor Announces 30,000-Seat, €150M Stadium Project

Montpellier Mayor Philippe Saurel announced the city’s planned Louis-Nicollin Stadium will cost €150M ($175.2M), according to L’ÉQUIPE. The majority of the project will be financed by the Nicollin Group and Ligue 1 side Montpellier, which would play its home matches at the stadium once it is complete. Saurel added that the Mosson Stadium, where Montpellier currently plays its home matches, “would not be destroyed.” He said that it will be “rehabilitated to create the employment opportunities the area needs.” The new stadium is expected to be completed for the ’22-23 season and will hold 30,000 spectators (L’ÉQUIPE, 7/5).
