Wimbledon organizers and beIN Sports signed a deal for the pay-TV channel to broadcast the tournament for five more years in France, according to MEDIA SPORTIF. BeIN Sports, which acquired the rights to Wimbledon in ’14, will broadcast the event through ’23. The deal also allows beIN to exclusively broadcast Wimbledon in the Middle East and North Africa (MEDIA SPORTIF, 7/2). MEDIA SPORTIF also reported the NFL signed a deal with beIN Sports to broadcast the '18-19 season in France, according to a source. The previous contract, brokered by MP & Silva, was signed in ’15 for three years. The details of the deal are unknown, but the NFL and beIN may have “renewed the original two-season deal via an extension clause.” No free-to-air channel has announced a deal for the French rights to the Super Bowl. In ’15, W9 signed a contract for the next three Super Bowls, but no extension has been announced. In February, W9’s broadcast of Super Bowl LII drew 300,000 viewers in the middle of the night, for a market share of 11.5% (MEDIA SPORTIF, 7/3).
