Women's Super League side Birmingham City Ladies changed its name to Birmingham City Women. The club called the alteration "an important and progressive step." It is the third top-tier side to make the switch in the last year, following Arsenal and Chelsea (BBC, 7/3).
National Rugby League side New Zealand Warriors' crowd numbers are"already up significantly" on previous seasons and if the team's next home game sells out, it will mean a "financial windfall for four charities." If the game sells out at Mt. Smart Stadium when the Warriors play the Melbourne Storm on July 22, the club will donate NZ$50,000 ($33,755) "out of its own pocket" to be split between KidsCan, Paralympics New Zealand, Ronald McDonald House Charities and Shine (STUFF, 7/3).
Spanish football club Málaga, which was relegated to the second division for '18-19, will reportedly receive a €19.3M ($22.5M) parachute payment from La Liga "as compensation for dropping after a decade in La Liga." The other two clubs that were relegated from La Liga -- Deportivo La Coruña and Las Palmas -- will receive €13M ($15.1M) and €11M ($12.8M), respectively (MARCA, 7/3).
