Burnley Secures £1M For Brierfield Mill Leisure Facility

EPL side Burnley's charity, Burnley FC in the Community (BFCitC), announced the required funding was secured to move into the next phase of work at the Leisure Box community hub at Brierfield Mill. Thanks to a grant of £611,000 ($805,300) from the Football Foundation -- via the Premier League and FA Facilities Fund -- and a further £400,000 ($527,200) from Sport England, an overall cash injection of £1M ($1.3M) will allow BFCitC to move to the internal fit-out stage of the facility. This phase will include installing an indoor 3G pitch, a sports hall, cricket lanes, a gym, a cafe, classrooms, a youth club space and a dance studio. The Leisure Box facility will open in the old warehouse section of the Brierfield Mill. This phase of work follows the £3M ($4M) that was already invested into the project's capital works via a number of partners (Burnley).
