Media Notes: Formula 1 Inks Deal With Amazon Web Services

Formula 1 announced a deal with Amazon Web Services. The circuit said that it would "allow the sport to make decades of archived data and content more accessible to fans and in new ways." The partnership, starting from this weekend’s Austrian Grand Prix, makes AWS F1’s official "cloud and machine learning provider." An F1 spokesperson said that the deal was a commercial one with "financial benefits" for the Liberty Media-owned sport, but gave no details (REUTERS, 6/29).

Eurosport partnered with former cyclist Bradley Wiggins to launch a new Tour de France podcast to complement its TV and digital coverage of the race. The four-part series, titled "The Bradley Wiggins Show by Eurosport," will be broadcast every Monday of the Tour, starting July 9, and available on all major podcast providers (Eurosport).

TV3 Group’s three channels will be renamed from the end of August, while the company, to be known as Virgin Media TV, will launch a new sports channel in September for Virgin Media customers only. The move follows investment in TV3 Group by Virgin Media Ireland, which acquired the broadcaster in '15 (IRISH TIMES, 6/28).
