League Notes: Austrian GP Uses Girls Despite F1 Ban

They were not "on the grid," but the Austrian Grand Prix used girls at the track this weekend. Red Bull Owner Dietrich Mateschitz is "no fan of Liberty Media's decision to ban grid girls." Mateschitz, who also owns the Spielberg track that hosted the Austrian GP, said, "It's an incredible puppet show. Formula 1 has more important things to do than debate grid girls." The race at Spielberg has "long featured" the "Formula Una" girls wearing the traditional Austrian dirndl dress (GMM, 6/28).

The German Esports Federation (ESBD) became the latest organization to join the Int'l eSports Federation (IeSF). ESBD President Hans Jagnow also confirmed that he will represent his organization at the IOC's Esports Forum later this month. Formed last year, the ESBD is comprised of 20 esports organizations (THE ESPORTS OBSERVER, 6/29).

The Counter-Strike Professional Players’ Association (CSPPA) officially went public, announcing its founding leadership board. The board consists of seven professional CS:GO players from around the world including Epitacio “TACO” de Melo and Tarik “tarik” Celik. Roughly 90 top players have joined the association (THE ESPORTS OBSERVER, 6/29).
