Franchise Notes: West Ham Charged By FA For Crowd Trouble

Premier League side West Ham was charged by the FA following the trouble which occurred during its home game against Burnley in March. The game, which Burnley won 3-0, "descended into chaos" following the first goal when fans began fighting among themselves, targeting the owners and invading the pitch, with captain Mark Noble "wrestling one supporter to the ground." An FA statement said, "The club has until Thursday 5 July to respond" (London EVENING STANDARD, 6/27).

Inter Milan launched Inter Academy Australia on Wednesday in Brisbane as the first project stemming from the agreement signed in May between the club, Fullshare Holdings and Sparrow Early Learning, as Inter's official education partner. Sparrow will become the official supplier of physical education activities targeted to kids aged 3-16 (Inter Milan).

La Liga side Real Sociedad named Microsoft Ibérica its technical partner. Microsoft will help carry out a digital transformation process. The initiative is part of the people-centered strategic reinvention process that Real Sociedad is implementing to improve its connection with its fanbase (Microsoft).

League Championship side Swansea City removed all of its current scouting team and will give new Manager Graham Potter "the lead role on transfer strategy." Head of Recruitment Dave Leadbeater was replaced by Potter's former Swedish side Ostersunds assistant, Kyle Macauley. A statement from Owners Steve Kaplan and Jason Levien and Chair Huw Jenkins confirmed the changes (BBC, 6/28).

Liverpool announced the launch of a new int'l academy in Hong Kong. Together with partner PNH Soccer Academy Ltd., the club will deliver ongoing coaching programs to youngsters at multiple venues across Hong Kong. The youth coaching will provide unique opportunities for children aged 3-17, from grassroots level through teams that compete in local leagues and tournaments (Liverpool).
