Event Notes: CECAFA Reschedules Women's Challenge Cup

The Council for East & Central African Football Associations rescheduled the Women's Challenge Cup to begin on July 19 in Rwanda. Seven nations will take part in the event that was postponed just four days before kickoff in May "because of logistical challenges." The Rwanda FA announced in May that it would "have to postpone the tournament" because it was still waiting for financial assistance from CECAFA (BBC, 6/21).

One-day domestic cricket will return to Victoria for the first time in five years next summer. The JLT One-Day Cup has been held in recent seasons across Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Hobart, but the availability of the redeveloped Junction Oval "means the Vics can finally enjoy a home-ground advantage." The Junction Oval will also host the final of the one-day domestic tournament, which will run from Sept. 16-Oct. 10, "regardless of the competing teams" (HERALD SUN, 6/20).
