Finance Notes: Serie A Side Fiorentina Posts €35.5M Profit

Serie A side Fiorentina posted a profit of €35.5M for last season, with "record revenues in part due to player sales." The club started the season with "almost an entirely new squad," having sold players including Federico Bernardeschi, Nikola Kalinic and Borja Valero. That "has had a positive effect on the balance sheet," with the Tuscan club posting a profit of €35.5M through Dec. 31. That is a "huge turnaround" from the €2.7M in the previous financial year (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 6/19).

The U.K. Gambling Commission fined 32Red £2M ($2.6M) after it found the bookmaker "offered bonuses to problem gamblers." 32Red, which was sold to Swedish gambling company Kindred last year for £175.6M, admitted to "a string of failures" following an investigation by the Gambling Commission (London TELEGRAPH, 6/20).
