Event Notes: Ladies European Tour Adds £260,000 Tournament

A new £260,000 ($342,670) tournament was added to the Ladies European Tour for next season. Golf du Kemperhof near Strasbourg will host the Ladies European Open, "offering the second-highest purse in French women's golf" behind the Evian Championship. The tournament will take place from Oct. 3-6 (PA, 6/20).

The Int'l Cricket Council unveiled details of a "revamped match schedule" which will "underpin its inaugural World Test Championship starting next year." The Championship, involving the nine top-ranked test nations competing in a league from July 15, 2019 to April 30, 2021, has been "designed to give more meaning to test series for cricket fans." The revamped Future Tours Program, starting with the Ashes series in England next year, will have teams play three home and away series over a two-year cycle. The top two teams will then progress to a June '21 final (REUTERS, 6/20).

New Zealand's first Boxing Day test in 32 years at the Melbourne Cricket Ground was confirmed for '19. The news comes with the release of the ICC's Future Tours Program which governs the cricketing schedule through '23 (NEW ZEALAND HERALD, 6/20).

The next League of Legends Oceanic Pro League split finals will be the headline event at the Melbourne Esports Open. Riot Games signed a deal that will bring the finals back to Melbourne until at least '22. The Melbourne Esports Open is a multi-esports event, billed as a two-day festival, with tournaments and a gaming expo (THE ESPORTS OBSERVER, 6/20).
