Businessman Banned From Etihad Stadium Still Offering AFL Tickets

A businessman "slapped" with a life ban from Etihad Stadium over his alleged involvement in a brawl in the Medallion Club continues to organize corporate functions at Australian Football League games and "offer tickets to footy fans," according to Houston & Mills of THE AGE. Paul Finn, 46, was charged with "intentionally causing injury, affray, possessing cocaine and resisting police following the bloody stoush" at a game between Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs on May 25. The AFL also canceled Finn's AFL membership and "imposed an indefinite ban on him applying for a club membership following the fight that involved up to nine men and three injured." But Finn's company, Prestige Global Events, "continues to offer hospitality packages and premium tickets to AFL matches," including games at Etihad Stadium and the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Prestige Global Events said on its website, "We provide our clients access to exclusive ticketing and corporate packages to global sport and entertainment events that are not available to the public." According to documents from the corporate regulator, Finn is the sole director and owner of Prestige Global Events, which also promotes A$100 ($74) tickets for the "Medallion Club Experience." Finn declined to comment when contacted for a quote, but his lawyer Bernie Balmer said that his client "would be contesting all charges." AFL spokesperson Patrick Keane said that there was no official affiliation between Prestige Global Events and the AFL (THE AGE, 6/17).
