MotoGP signed a preliminary agreement for a Brazilian Grand Prix, "potentially as soon as" '21, at a new circuit being planned for Rio de Janeiro. Rights holder Dorna Sport said in a statement on Friday that the memorandum of understanding was with Rio Motorsport, a company backed by local and int'l investors. The new circuit "would give the city a replacement track for the old Jacarepagua circuit that made way" for the Rio 2016 Olympic Park (REUTERS, 6/15).
FIBA's central board on Saturday approved changes being made to the official basketball rules. The modifications are intended to make the game more free-flowing. FIBA's technical commission approved 14 proposals. The changes will come into effect on Oct. 1 (FIBA).
In partnership with entertainment company TEG Dainty, WWE will return to Australia with WWE Super Show-Down. The event will take place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Oct. 6 and will feature the largest roster of WWE performers ever to appear in the country. Tickets will go on sale June 28 (WWE).
