Former tennis player Boris Becker claimed diplomatic immunity from bankruptcy proceedings "by taking up a role with the Central African Republic as a sports envoy." Becker was declared bankrupt by a British court in '17 in connection to a debt to private banker Arbuthnot Latham & Co. He has recently been pursued for "further assets," according to a statement by his lawyers. In a statement, Becker said, "I have now asserted diplomatic immunity ... in order to bring this farce to an end, so that I can start to rebuild my life" (REUTERS, 6/15).

Force India Formula 1 "may be struggling for its very survival in the sport." German media outlet Auto Motor und Sport reported Formula One Management, controlled by Liberty Media, is "currently helping out with a loan." The report added that team Founder Vijay Mallya "stepped down as part of the loan deal" (AUTOWEEK, 6/14).
