Event Notes: Wilder-Joshua Title Fight To Be Held This Fall

Heavyweight world title holder Deontay Wilder's co-Manager Shelly Finkel said that Wilder "agreed to terms" with fellow unbeaten boxer Anthony Joshua's camp for them to "meet for the undisputed title later this year in Joshua's home country" of the U.K. Whether the fight "gets signed remains to be seen" (ESPN.com, 6/12).

The introduction of esports at the Asian Games this summer "could be its stepping stone" to the Olympic Games, according to Asian Electronic Sports Federation President Kenneth Fok Kai-kong. He said, "It's a big step forward for esports to be competing in the Asian Games. ... But we won't stop there. Our long-term goal is to promote esports so that it can appear at the Olympic Games one day" (SOUTH CHINA MORNING POST, 6/12).

Blockchain-based esports tournament and gaming platform WeOne and esports organizer Cresmos will host an esports tournament -- Southeast Asian League -- in Singapore from June 26-28. The tournament will take place at BroadcastAsia2018 (WeOne). 

FIA revealed further details of its new GT Nations Cup concept, which will be held for the first time at the end of this year in Bahrain. The Nations Cup will feature one car per country, shared by a silver and a bronze driver "selected by the relevant national sporting authority and featuring a livery" that incorporates national colors. A 60-minute main race will be preceded by a pair of hour-long qualifying races and two 20-minute qualifying sessions to define the grids for the qualifying races (MOTORSPORT, 6/12).

Vietnam will host the first-round draw for the '18-19 English Football League Cup on Friday. It is the second campaign in a row the event has taken place in the Far East (BBC, 6/11).
