Media Notes: IBM Watson Will Offer Highlight Machine For WC

Artificial intelligence "is on a trajectory to make formulaic or repetitive tasks easier." For Fox Sports, this means IBM is "lending its expertise to help fans cut highlights" of the FIFA World Cup in Russia. IBM Watson Media and IBM iX technology will "sift through decades" of FIFA highlights "to learn to clip together fan-requested highlights packages." The Highlight Machine accepts requests for content from different tournaments, teams, players and plays -- "like goals, fouls and more" (THE DRUM, 6/6).

Eleven Sports extended its carriage partnership with Telenet for a further three years in Belgium. Eleven Sports 3 will be available to Telenet customers across the country. This is in addition to Eleven Sports 1 and Eleven Sports 2, which have been available to Telenet subscribers since the original agreement was struck in '15 (Eleven Sports).

La Liga side Sevilla launched an official Smart TV app. Available for both Samsung and LG Smart TVs, the OTT platform will allow fans to "enjoy premium content and high definition." Users will be able to access a selection of historical and current matches as well as special reports and programs produced for Sevilla's in-house TV channel, SFC TV (SOCCEREX, 6/6).
