Football Notes: Saudi Arabia To Host Serie A's Supercoppa

Saudi Arabia’s General Sports Authority confirmed that the country will host next season’s Supercoppa between Juventus and AC Milan. The GSA’s official Twitter account confirmed the news, although the organization "erroneously" referred to the Supercoppa as "the Serie A Final." The deal between Saudi Arabia and Serie A is reportedly worth around €7M ($8.2M), with 45% each for Juventus and AC Milan and 10% going to the league (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 6/6).

Former Dinamo Zagreb CEO Zdravko Mamic was sentenced to to six-and-a-half years in prison for tax evasion and siphoning profits from player transfers. Two other former senior Dinamo execs and a tax official were also jailed for the same offenses. Mamic’s brother Zoran Mamic, a former Dinamo coach, was given a prison sentence of four years and 11 months. Damir Vrbanovic, who is currently a senior official in the Croatian Football Federation (HNS), was sentenced to three years in prison (REUTERS, 6/6).

England defender Danny Rose told his family "not to attend the World Cup because he fears they may be racially abused in Russia." Rose said, "I've told my family I don't want them going out there because of racism and anything else that may happen. I don't want to be worrying, when I'm trying to prepare for games, for my family's safety" (REUTERS, 6/6).
