BT Sport, Sunset+Vine Extend Partnership Until '22

BT Sport agreed to a four-year extension of its deal with producer Sunset+Vine "in a move that cuts costs and secures coverage until its latest football rights deal with the Premier League expires," according to Christopher Williams of the London TELEGRAPH. Sunset+Vine will continue to produce Premier League and Europa League football, as well as Premiership Rugby, until '22. The new contract for 1,200 hours of live coverage per year "also includes production work on new rights acquired by BT Sport," such as the Big Bash League. It is understood that BT "squeezed Sunset+Vine for lower costs in exchange for the certainty of a four-year contract." The previous extension lasted "only two years." The relationship accounts for around one-third of Sunset+Vine's revenues, which were £54M in '16, the most recent year for which accounts are available (TELEGRAPH, 5/22). ADVANCED TELEVISION reported the Sunset+Vine team will be led by Stephen Booth (exec producer, football), Jamie Oakford (match director, football), Titus Hill (exec producer, rugby) and Grant Phillips (exec producer, Scottish Professional Football League) (ADVANCED TELEVISION, 5/23).
