Media Notes: Dutch Broadcaster Veronica Retains Champions League

Dutch commercial broadcaster Veronica retained rights to the Champions League for a further three years. Veronica will continue to cover the competition in the Netherlands from next season until the end of the '20-21 campaign. The contract is reportedly worth less than the range of between €17M ($20M) and €25M ($29M) per season under the previous agreement (SOCCEREX, 5/21).

Telkom announced IndiHome subscribers will be able to watch the 2018 World Cup live on the sports channel. Telkom Consumer Service Dir Siti Choriana said, "IndiHome is committed to bringing the best for its subscribers by broadcasting the World Cup live 24 hours a day. We will also have the match in HD, and if you miss a match you can watch a replay through our TV on Demand service" (JAKARTA GLOBE, 5/21).

Havas Sports & Entertainment was appointed as the int'l media rights & commercial partner by fight promoter MP Promotions & Events for the "Fight of Champions" WBA welterweight championship featuring Manny Pacquiao and Lucas Matthysse on July 15. The deal covers worldwide distribution across Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America and Africa. Havas Sports & Entertainment will also oversee a range of sponsorship opportunities for the event (Havas Media). 

BBC Radio 5 live Sports Extra will broadcast a UFC event live for the first time when the UFC makes its debut in Liverpool on Sunday. UFC Fight Night: Thompson vs. Till, which will take place at the Echo Arena Liverpool, will be aired live on the station. The show will be hosted by O.J. Borg and Nick Peet, who produce the BBC MMA Show (UFC). 

Glory Kickboxing and Brazil's Globo announced an extension of their broadcast agreement. Glory and Globo have been partners since '17, bringing Brazilian fight fans live Glory numbered and SuperFight Series events, "Glory Rewind" and "Best of Glory" shows using the kickboxing promoter's library and "Inside Glory" shoulder programming. Programming will continue to air on Combate, the home for fighting in Brazil (Glory).
