The FA of Wales confirmed Wales will return to the Principality Stadium for October's friendly with Spain, according to Tom Coleman of WALES ONLINE. The move "has caused division among fans, but there is no indication that it is anything other than a temporary measure," with the Cardiff City Stadium still set to host upcoming games in the UEFA Nations League and Euro 2020 qualifiers. It will be the first time the Welsh football team has played at the stadium since '11, with Cardiff City Stadium "now widely regarded as the team's home ground." The "soaring demand and interest generated on the back of the success of Euro 2016" has led to suggestions "on several occasions" that a move back to the Principality "could well be on the cards," but fans -- "and indeed the team itself" -- have expressed a "strong preference to playing at the 33,000-capacity home" of League Championship side Cardiff City. The FAW is "keen to take full advantage of the anticipated demand for tickets that the visit of Spain would bring." FAW CEO Jonathan Ford said, "This is a fantastic opportunity for our supporters to see a great team and world class players. We want to provide everyone with the opportunity of watching the game and playing at the Principality Stadium enables us to do so" (WALES ONLINE, 5/15).
