Paraguayan ALEJANDRO DOMINGUEZ was reelected president of CONMEBOL on Friday with a "renewed promise" to make the organization "more transparent and accountable." Dominguez "took power" in '16 after JUAN ÁNGEL NAPOUT was arrested in Switzerland as part of the FIFA corruption scandal. Dominguez has "sought to restore the image of an institution discredited by the arrests and notorious for its lack of accountability and openness" (REUTERS, 5/11).

COACHES/MANAGERS: Northampton Town named caretaker boss DEAN AUSTIN its manager on a two-year contract following the club's relegation from League One. The former Tottenham player, 48, was assistant to JIMMY FLOYD HASSELBAINK but "took temporary charge when the Dutchman was sacked in April" (BBC, 5/12). ... J.League side Kashiway Reysol dismissed Manager TAKAHIRO SHIMOTAIRA following a "lackluster start to the season." Shimotaira was notified of his sacking after the club's seventh loss of the season. The 46-year-old reportedly told players in the locker room after the home loss that "he would resign" (KYODO, 5/13).
