Facility Notes: NRL Side Wests Tigers To Discuss Having Permanent Home

National Rugby League side Wests Tigers will meet with Western Sydney Stadium execs "in the next fortnight to begin talks" about making the new A$300M ($226.2M) venue its permanent home. Club CEO Justin Pascoe said that the new Parramatta-based stadium has "plenty of appeal." Pascoe added that Leichhardt Oval and Campbelltown Stadium "would continue to be used but just how many games were taken to those popular suburban venues would be reviewed" (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 5/11).

On Friday, the Curragh Racecourse will host the first of 18 fixtures this year, with the €72M ($85.9M) flagship redevelopment of Irish racing's HQ "on schedule to be completed by Christmas." The public will be "able to examine the extensive" work carried out during the winter and spring through back-to-back fixtures at the track on Friday and Saturday (IRISH TIMES, 5/9).

After "years of debate," the Wellington City Council is proposing to save the Museum Stand at the Basin Reserve and reopen it by '20. The heritage-listed stand closed to spectators in '12 after it was found to meet just 23% of new building standards. Anything under 34% is" considered quake-prone." The option favored by council staff is to spend NZ$7.7M ($5.4M) on bringing the Museum Stand up to 50% of code (STUFF, 5/10).
