Int'l Gaming Event Organizer DreamHack Signs Fortum

Int'l gaming event organizer DreamHack "partnered with clean energy company Fortum," according to Trent Murray of THE ESPORTS OBSERVER. Fortum will serve as the main sponsor for the DreamHack Masters Stockholm 2018. Fortum "provides CO2-free electricity to the Nordic countries, including Sweden, where the DreamHack Masters event will take place." A green power company sponsorship "is a natural fit for a company like DreamHack." The Swedish event organizer hosts massive gaming festivals "with thousands of computers, lights, and monitors running for days at a time." Esports as a whole "is an industry reliant on electricity, and yet there are surprisingly few partnerships like this in the space" (THE ESPORTS OBSERVER, 5/9). Murray also reported Bandai Namco’s Tekken World Tour named arcade stick manufacturer Qanba USA as an official sponsor of the circuit. Qanba "is a leader in the manufacture of arcade sticks," custom gaming controllers that replicate the button and joystick layout of a "classic arcade machine" (THE ESPORTS OBSERVER, 5/9).
