League Notes: ICC Creates Dispute Resolution Panel

The PCB is seeking $70M in compensation for what it claims is a violation of a '14 MOU.GETTY IMAGES

The Int'l Cricket Council created a "dispute resolution panel" to hear Pakistan's compensation claim against India for refusing to play a bilateral series. Sporting ties between the South Asian neighbors "have suffered in recent years amid rising political tensions," and Pakistani cricket authorities say that their Indian counterparts have violated a '14 memorandum of understanding under which the two were to play six bilateral series between '15 and '23. The Pakistan Cricket Board is seeking $70M in compensation. The three-member panel will hear the claim later this year (AFP, 4/11).

UFC "failed miserably" in Japan because "it was focused on blood and violence and did not create role models for Asian consumers," ONE Championship Founder & CEO Chatri Sityodtong said. Asia-focused ONE will hold its first card in Japan in March '19 and recently agreed to a deal with internet station AbemaTV to broadcast in Japan live for the first time (REUTERS, 4/11).
