Media Notes: La Liga Builds On MTN Partnership In Africa

La Liga expanded its regional sponsorship coverage with telecom MTN Group into Africa. MTN Ivory Coast joined the company’s Iranian subsidiary MTN Irancell "as a regional sponsor of the Spanish league." MTN is a "leading supplier of internet services in the Ivorian market" and will now be able to offer its almost 11 million subscribers access to exclusive La Liga content (INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL, 3/21).

Media Group Ukraine acquired media rights to a "host of national team properties" held by UEFA. The media holding company’s rights package includes Euro 2020 and its qualifiers, as well as the European qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup. In addition, Media Group Ukraine secured rights to the inaugural UEFA Nations League competition, which is set to debut later this year (SOCCEREX, 3/22).
