Event Notes: F1 Moves Start Lights To Compensate For Halo

Formula 1 changed the positioning of race start lights to "ensure drivers can see clearly around the new halo head protection system that debuts in Australia this weekend." FIA Race Dir Charlie Whiting said, "With the halo, what we've asked every circuit to do is to make the lights at a standard height above the track. We've also put a repeat set of lights, in this case off to the left, over the verge" (REUTERS, 3/22).

Juventus will be the opponent for the top players in Major League Soccer at the 2018 MLS All-Star Game, the league announced. The match will be played at Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Aug. 1. Juventus is the second Italian team to play in the All-Star Game, after AS Roma took part in '13, recording a 3-1 victory (ESPN.com, 3/22).

The English Football League said that Derby County's decision to postpone its League Championship game with Cardiff City on safety grounds "was correct." The Rams said that heavy snow meant the area surrounding Pride Park stadium was in an "unsafe condition" on Sunday. An EFL statement said that Derby made "every effort" to play the game (BBC, 3/22).
